Balanced Output
Despite its small size the SIROCCO player boast a balanced output in the rear of the unit. The benefits of balanced vs. unbalanced outputs is most useful when connecting the SIROCCO player to an exterior amplifier that has such an input.

Velvet Sound Architecture
The MISTRAL supports all current High-Resolution formats up to 768 khz PCM and native DSD128, as well as most popular lossy codecs like MP3, AAC, WMA (to be implemented via a future firmware upgrade). The rear boasts a real balanced output via a 2.5mm jack. All this is fed by a state of the art AKM4495 DAC by Asahi Kasei Microdevices. This last generation 32bit DAC with Velvet Sound architecture is superior in performance in sound field and transparency.

Native DSD
Like many units of considerably larger size the MISTRAL or SIROCCO players supports DSD (Direct Stream Digital) without the need to convert into a PCM signal first. Like with any other process, wether digital or analogue, the less a signal/source is altered or tampered with the better the result.

With Bluetooth 4.1 24-bit audio resolution is maintained by using an extra two bits in each of the four sub-bands of processing. This results in lower signal-to-noise ratio (the signal strength relative to background noise) through the encode/decode cycle and less distortion, making aptX HD ideal for use as part of a high-resolution audio solution.

Like in many advanced home-audiophile systems we have added two amplifiers to the SIROCCO. In other words, unlike other players that have one amplifier that powers two channels, in the SIROCCO one amplifier feeds the right channel and the other the left channel... This setup not only achieves better audio channel separation but also increases the amplification to drive even the most demanding IEMs and most over-ear headphones.

Our main goal was to make an audio device that looked like an audio device and not just another smartphone. The flickering LEDs for the volume level take you back to an era where the only visual interaction with the music. The high-contrast dot-matrix display is more then sufficient to operate the MISTRAL player displaying the truly important facts.
